Biography

Martha passed away at the age of 82 and is buried in Rosemont Cemetery in Wichita Falls, Wichita County, Texas. The inscription on her tombstone reads, "A CARING NURSE."[1]

OBITUARY:

"Martha Ann Watkins, 82, passed away September 13, 2011, after a lengthy illness. She lived at Grace Presbyterian Village in Dallas, Texas. Funeral services are set for 11 a.m. Monday, September 19, 2011, at the Chapel at Lunn's Colonial Funeral Home with Dr. Jerry Raines of the Hampton Road Baptist Church of DeSoto, Texas officiating. Interment will follow in Rosemont Cemetery under the direction of Lunn's Colonial Funeral Home.

"Martha was born February 2, 1929, in Knox City, Texas, to William E. and Abigail Reynolds. She was raised in Munday, Texas, where she went through school, graduating from high school there. Martha went to Hardin College and became a registered nurse. She worked in that capacity for the Texas State Department of Health for 21 years. Later, Martha taught in the LVN school at Wichita General Hospital, where she became supervisor for the school. Martha was a registered nurse for over 40 years. She loved her career and helping others. She was a resident of Wichita Falls for over 55 years and a long time member of First Baptist Church of Wichita Falls.

"Martha was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph P. Watkins and her sister Gail Tweed. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Renee and Mike Clark of Midlothian, Texas; and son, Paul R. Watkins of Archer City, Texas. She is also survived by granddaughters, Emily Ackermann of Addison, Texas, Abbi Terro of Sulphur, Louisiana; and her loving brother, Don Reynolds and his wife Martha of Albuquerque, New Mexico. She also leaves behind one niece and three nephews and three great-grandchildren.

"Memorials honoring Mrs. Watkins may be made to Meals on Wheels, 1008 Burnett Street, Wichita Falls, Texas; 76301-3210; or to Grace Presbyterian Village Caring Fund, 550 E. Ann Arbor Dr., Dallas, Texas, 75216.
