Joshua David was born to teenaged parents John Reynolds and Kathy McClanahan. They moved between Iowa and Florida for several years, often in the company of John's cousin Jack Duff and his wife Debbie Sager, who was Kathy's best friend, and their twins who were four days older. Eventually both couples divorced, and John and Joshua David moved back to Iowa. John remarried and had three other children; Kathy also remarried and had four more children, for a total of seven half-siblings (one reason Joshua David never had children).
After John joined the US Army as a RN, they moved to Kansas, Texas, and Oklahoma in quick succession. Joshua David, now going by David socially, graduated from Lawton Eisenhower High School in 1993, then attending the University of Oklahoma for five years, graduating with a degree in Sociology/Criminology. When initial plans to become a Norman Police Officer did not pan out, he returned to Iowa and worked with youth-at-risk as a counselor for several years.
In 2001, seeking a change of schedule and experience, David moved to Kansas City and got a job with the City of KCMO doing crime prevention and neighborhood watch trainings. From there he worked up to being a Performance Analyst with the City.
He has married twice, the first time to Carey Oxler for 4 years, and currently married to Kimberly Gier since 2010. They have had a succession of misfit dogs, cats, and the occasional lizard.
