Biography

Arvilla Ruth Rhoades was born on September 12, 1920, in Miami, Indiana. She was the daughter of John and Bernice (Anderson) Rhoades. She married Raymond Junior Deeter in 1940. They had three children during their marriage. She died on October 16, 1969, in Agua Prieta, Sonora, Mexico, at the age of 49, and was buried in Benson, Arizona.

Logansport Native Dies in Arizona

Funeral services for Mrs. Arvilla Deeter, 49, Benson, Arizona, a Logansport native, will be held Monday morning at the Benson Mortuary in Benson. Burial will be in a cemetery there. Mrs. Deeter died Thursday morning at a hospital in Aqua Prieta, Mexico, following a long illness.

Born Sept. 12, 1920 in Logansport, she was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Lester Rhoades. She moved to Arizona from this city about five years ago.

Surviving are her parents, who reside in Camden; her husband, Raymond L. Deeter; three sons, Steve, Joe and Tom, all from the Benson area; two sisters, Mrs. Donnabelle Rush, Logansport; and Mrs. Catherine Shidaker, Burr Oak, Mich.; a brother, John F. Rhoades, Logansport; and three grandchildren. One brother preceded her in death.

Funeral for Mrs. Arvilla Ruth Deeter, 49, of Pomerene was October 20 at 10 a.m. at Benson Mortuary. The Rev. M.E. Brantley, Benson Heights Southern Baptist Church, officiated.

Mrs. Deeter died October 16 at Bribiesca Hospital in Auga Prieta, Sonora, Mexico. She had been a resident of Pomerence for eight years. Mrs. Deeter lived in Indiana before coming to Arizona for her health.

She was born September 12, 1920 in Miami County, Ind. Mrs. Deeter is survived by her husband, Raymond; three sons, Stephen, Joe and Thomas, all of Pomerence; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Rhoades of Camden, Ind.; one brother, John Rhoades of Logansport, Ind.; two sisters, Mrs. Donnabelle Rush of Logansport, and Mrs. Catherine Shidaker of Battle Creek, Mich.; and three grandchildren.

Burial was in Cochise Gardens of Rest.
