Biography

Rebecca was a Friend (Quaker)

Rebecca Rhoads was born about 1780 in Orange County, North Carolina. She was the daughter of William Rhoads and Ann Underwood.[1][2]

After the death of her father William Rhoads (in 1802) and her maternal grandmother Ann Travilla Underwood (in 1804), a group of Underwoods, Rhoadses and Coxes set off on a wagon-train journey to Southwestern Ohio. The family arrived there in 1805. Eventually, they moved into Wayne County, Indiana and then finally into Randolph County, Indiana.

Rebecca Rhoads Manor passed away in 1825 at Harrisville, Randolph County, Indiana.[3] She is buried near her mother, Ann Underwood Rhoads, and her sister, Ann Rhoads Cox, in the Old Jericho Burial Ground. This cemetery is mainly reserved for very early Quaker settlers of Randolph County, Indiana.
