Martha was born in May 1840 in Ohio, according to the 1900 US Census, where she is enumerated in Ward 2 of Jackson, Jackson County, Michigan, with her husband, Sylvester Sage Gillett (abt.1834-abt.1914), and two children, Sylvester S. Jr. (born in January 1878) and Una Edna (born in September 1882), both in Michigan. Martha's father was born in Vermont and her mother in Massachusetts. [1]
