Biography

George Washington “Washington” Rhodes was born about 1812. He was the son of Jacob Rhodes and Margaret (Snyder) Rhodes. [1]

Washington married Clarissa, her maiden name unknown. They had two children: Marion who died in 1882; and Omar, of Etna who had a child, Mrs. Earl Rhodes.

Washington Rhodes of Etna fell down a flight of stairs at his residence Saturday afternoon and sustained injuries which it is feared will terminate fatally. Mr. Rhodes is 76 years of age. He is a brother of the later Miles Rhodes and is reputed the wealthiest resident in the town of Dryden. He has a wife and one son – Ithaca Journal, reprinted in the Lansing Journal, March 26, 1891.

Washington died April 12, 1891. He is buried in Willow Glen cemetery, Dryden, Tompkins County, New York. [2]
