On 19 Feb 1942 in Swift Creek, Pitt County, North Carolina, William Durant Rhodes died. He was 74 years old.

The medical examiner determined the immediate cause of death was due to Uremia, which was due to Arteriosclerosis and Chronic Nephritis.

His remains were laid to rest in Edwards Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery, Kinston, Lenoir County, North Carolina. A Find-A-Grave memorial has been created for him. However. there is not much information posted on the site. There is no description of the cemetery or grave and there are no photos of the memorial stone.
