Rice, a resident of Lake Orion for four years, died at the Mercy Hospital in Grayling at 8pm Thursday after a week's illness. His home here was on South Broadway Avenue, where his widow, Ruby M., and three children, Robert, Peggy, and Lois survive. The other children, James N., Mrs. Charles Whipple, and Guy Rice Jr., live in Lake Orion, as do his parents Harriet Brown and James Rice. He leaves also three brothers, Roy of Washington, Irvin of Los Angeles, and Robert of Detroit, and a sister Mrs. Guy Minnis of Pontiac. Funeral services held at 2pm Saturday in the Allen Chapel here and burial is to be at East Lawn Cemetery. WASHINGTON Guy Rice - Word was received Thursday of the death of Guy Rice, 48 years old, of Lake Orion, a former resident here. He operated a meat market in Washington for several years. Mr. Rice had been on a hunting trip and was returning home with his wife when striken. He was taken to Grayling Hospital, and underwent an operation. A brother, Roy Rice, lives here.

Surviving are the widow and five children, Mrs. Guy Minnis of Pontiac; Irvin Rice of Hawthorn California, Guy Rice of Lake Orion, Roy and Robert of Washington; One sister Miss Mary Rice; a niece Mrs. Eugene Lawson of Pontiac; 22 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. A similar obituary was in the Mt. Clemens Daily Leader Dec 30, 1932 p. 3 but mentions a "stroke" as the illness.

Rev. F.A. Hills, pastor of the Community Church will be in charge and burial will be in West Berlin Cemetery. Mr. Rice died Tuesday after an illness of four years. He was not confined to his bed until two weeks ago. He owned and operated a farm east of Washington on Marine City Road for many years. He lived his entire life in this vicinity.
