Biography

Jerome was born about 1830.

Jerome appears in the 1860 census of Pettis Co. MO with his wife Rachel. They are in the home of John Rice. However, Rachel was in the John Rice home in 1850 as well and Jerome was not. Jerome appears to have been in the home of Jasper D. Rice, in Jasper D. Rice, 1850. I could conclude that Jerome was son of Jasper D. Rice. However, there is a Jerome that continues to Clinton Co. MO with a land warrant and there is a Jerome in Nebraska that others link to Jasper. There needs to be some proof of continuity in this story. Blackwater was a volatile place in Civil War days and this should also be considered.
