Jennings Rice was born on July 05, 1896, in Bamberg County, South Carolina, United States.[1] His parents were James Rice and Lucia Tant. He had blue and eyes and light hair.[2][3]
He graduated from the University of South Carolina in May, 1918 with an M.A.[4][5]
He enlisted in the Navy in Atlanta, Georgia in August of 1918 during WWI as a Landsman Machinist. He was never called to active duty.[6]
He married Alma Kirton on October 11, 1922, at the home of Mr. and Mrs. P. C. Kirton in Pamplico, South Carolina. At the time of his marriage, he was employed by a bank in Columbia.[7]
He retired from the Veterans Administration Regional Office in Columbia, South Carolina where he lived since about 1922.[8]
He died on September 16, 1962, at his home at 3311 Monroe Street in Columbia, Richland, South Carolina, United States.[9][10]
