Descendant
Descendant of Deacon Edmund Rice (1594-1663), an early immigrant to Massachusetts Bay Colony, the first of his line to come to America in 1639.

William Putnam Rice was born March 8, 1856 in Virginia Township, Cass County, Illinois to Elbert Gallatin Rice and Mary Ann Camp.

He married Margaret Georgia Richards October 8, 1884 in St. Joseph, Buchanan, Missouri. They had seven children, however, two died in infancy and there is no record of them:
