Biography

Alice F. Rice was born on her parents' farm in Dover Township, Windham County, Vermont, USA, on 12 November 1857. She was the daughter of Chester Rice, 1819-1882, and his wife, Mary A. (Negus) Rice, 1831-1902. Chester and Mary had been married on Christmas Day (25 Dec.) 1852 in Windham County, Vermont, USA. ^[1]

On 3 December 1878 in Dover, Windham, Vermont, USA, Alice F Rice married Julian J. Snow (1852-1927). She was his 2nd cousin, once removed, via his mother: Nancy (Rice) Snow's, family. ^[2]

Julian and Alice Snow had a family farm in Dover, Windham, Vermont, USA, and had one son: Weston Julian Snow, born on 17 May 1895. ^[3]

Tragically, Alice (Rice) Snow passed away on their farm on 4 November 1899 when her son was just 4 years old. Her Vermont death certificate states she had Uterine Cancer and died at 41 yrs., 11 mos., 22 days old, in Dover, Windham, Vermont. ^[4] She was buried at the Rice-Snow Cemetery, West Dover, Windham County, Vermont, USA. ^[5]

On 15 October 1901, Julian Snow married Alice F. Rice's older sister, Helen E. Rice, 1853-1935. She was the childless widow of neighboring farmer, Byron Willard Harris, who had died in 1891. ^[6]

Julian J. Snow passed away on his farm in West Dover, Windham, Vermont, on 13 February 1927 at 74 yrs., 7 mos., and 14 days old. His Vermont Death Certificate stated that he had caught a "grippy cold" and his heart stopped. "Age and General Arteriosclerosis" were the major causes given for his death. ^[7] He was buried next to his 1st wife, Alice F. Rice, at the Rice - Snow Cemetery, West Dover, Windham County, Vermont, USA ^[8]
