George was born in 1794, the child of James Rice and Rebecca Miller. [1]He fought in the War of 1812 against Creek Indians in Alabama. Being the eldest son, inherited the Rice Mill, blacksmith shop (located abt a mile below the mill) and large acerage.
He and brother-in-law George Snodderly operated the blacksmith shop, making all the guns parts and shells for the Hog Rifle, taking 6 mths to make one gun. George passed away in 1869.[2]
