Biography

Annie Laurie (Rice) Smith was born in Appalachia, in Kentucky.

Annie Laurie was born in Harlan, Kentucky the youngest child of Nancy Smith and her second husband, William Thomas Rice. She first married Andrew Banta in 1933 ^[1]and secondly married Shelburne Clay Smith. She had only one child, Andrew F Banta. She worked for the IRS and lived in Louisville. She passed away in 1987, and is buried in Harlan, Kentucky ^[2].
