Biography

COMFORT RICE, of Worcester, m. Martha Morris Rice of Woodstock, Ct.^[1] , and resided in that part of Worcester now Auburn, where she d., June, 1812, aged 81. He d. there, Aug., 1816, aged 87. Comfort is buried in Auburn Center Burial Ground, Auburn, Worcester County, Massachusetts, USA.^[2]

1) Esther, Dec. 29, 1755, m. Daniel Gale of Petersham, and d. 1848, in her 93d year.

2) Jonathan, July 24, 1757, d. April 22, 1759.

3) Mary, Feb. 27, 1761, m. Timothy Bancroft of Auburn, and d. 1844, in her 84th year.

4) Nancy, Oct. 27, 1762, m. John Stone and removed to Worthington; she d., Feb., 1849, in her 87th year.

5) Jonathan, March 7, 1764, m. Mary Stevens.

6) Darius, Nov. 2, 1766, m. Anna Stevens.

7) Betsy, May 27, 1768, m. Thomas Hart.

8) Peter, July 22, 1771, m. Mary Hart.

9) Edward Rice, March 27, 1773, m. Miriam Gleason.

10) Martha, 1777 , m. James Hart, and d. at Wor., aged 68.

Will of Comfort Rice, Feb. 22, 1803, proved, Dec. 3, 1816, gave to wife, Martha; to son Jonathan; to heirs of son Darius; to sons Peter and Edward; to daus. Esther Gale, Mary Bancroft, Nancy Stone, Betsy Hart and Martha Hart. Edward Rice, Ex'or.
