Biography
James was born in 1859 in Minnesota.
Marriages
James had numerous marriages with women who likewise had multiple spouses. The 1900 census shows him married to Clara Payer to whom he had been married for 5 years. She, however, married again in 1905, so her marriage to James, when he was 40 and she 21, had to have been dissolved by that date.
Occupation
The 1900 census shows that he was a laborer, but he owned his own house, and he could read, write, and speak English.
