Joseph was born about 1691, the son of Richard Rich and Sally Roberts.[1]
If he was the son of Richard and Sarah, he apparently died before the April 1697 settlement of his father's estate which named all of his siblings.[2]
Joseph is not mentioned in the NEHGR article which covers his supposed father's family.[3] He is mentioned in Shebnah Rich's "Richard Rich of Dover Neck" Library of Cape Cod History & Genealogy issue #56, p. 2 as being a son, but is said to be "among the Eastham voters in 1695" which would make him at least age 21, or born by 1674.
The only reference I find to a Joseph Rich in Eastham around this time is a reference to a town "census substitute" record dated 1695 which is probably for the above mentioned man in Shebnah Rich's genealogy, an adult on a tax or voter roll.[4]
