Vincent Richard is a descendant of an Acadian

Vincent Richard was the son of Jacques Toussaint Richard and Francoise Cottreau.[1]
He was born June 17, 1859[1] in Tusket Wedge, Nova Scotia[2] [3], and was baptised July 3, 1859 at St. Michael's[4] in Tusket Wedge.[3]
He grew up in the family home located along the Richard Road in Tusket Wedge.[2][3]
He was a merchant by trade[1], operating a small candy store for children[2] on the corner of the Main Road and the Richard Road in Tusket Wedge.[5][3]
He married Venerancienne Levanie Pothier, the daughter of Louis Pothier and Anne Suzanne Surette, on February 3, 1896 at Ste. Anne's in Eel Brook, Nova Scotia.[4]
The couple settled into his boyhood home which he would inherit[2] where they raised their family of 8 children[4]:

Captain Vincent Richard died on January 30th at his home at the age of 86 years and seven months. The deceased was treasurer of Société de l'Assomption for thirty years, having only resigned five years ago. He was also a member of C.M.B.A. The deceased leaves to mourn other than his wife, four sons Willie of Cambridge and James of Dorchester, Vincent of Halifax and Leo at home, one daughter, Mrs. Cleophas Cottreau at home. The funeral was held Saturday morning at Saint Michael's Church at 8:30 a.m. Rev. Father Doucet, priest, officiated. The pallbearers were, Captain Alfred LeBlanc, Damien and Nelson Boudreau, Leander Richard, members of C.M.B.A. and Edward LeBlanc and Edward Richard.
