Biography
Jacque Richard emigrated from Normandy, France. The first mention of him in the New World is in 1772, he was a fisherman. He could sign his name and appears to have been able to read and write. His signature omits the traditional "s" at the end of Jacques.
His ancestors in France have been traced to at least the great grandparent level on both maternal and paternal sides as noted in Fichier Origine.
Jacques François Richard and Marguerite Jahan (Jean) dite Viens, per PRDH,[1] had 5 children who went on to have families of their own (all events in Beaumont unless otherwise noted):
- Jacques Richard
- Marie Archange Richard
- Judith Richard b. June 24th 1783 (St-Michel-de-Bellechasse), m. February 20th 1821(Notre-Dame-de-Québec) to François Mathieu, s. November 26th 1838 (St-Roch)

- Marie Joseph b. March 23rd 1785 (St-Michel-de-Bellechasse) it is unclear why this is not the Marie that married Joseph Rousseau
