Biography

Judith was born about 1736. She is the daughter of Alexandre Richard and Marie-Madeleine Thibodeau.

Around 1756, she married Michel Poirier, son of Joseph Poirier and Jeanne Arsenault,

In 1760, they were at Restigouche, and the following year at Nipisiguit. Taken as prisoners to Halifax, they were released in 1763, and later settled in Arichat (Nova Scotia). Michel and 4 of his children were counted on a list of prisoners in Halifax on 12 August 1763 but his wife was not mentioned.[1] [2] [3]

They had three of their children, Toussaint, Gertrude and Bibiane, baptized in 1771 in Arichat by l’abbé Bailly.
