Francois Richard was born in 1686 at Auray (in the diocese of Vannes), Bretagne (today Morbihan), France. [1]

François was a soldier who was sent to Nouvelle-France, where he later married Anne Comeau, 29 Oct 1710. [2] [3] From http://www.acadiansingray.com/Appendices-ATLAL-RICHARD.htm:

François Richard, son of merchant Jean Richard and Anne Christin, d'Auray of Vannes, Brittany, married Anne Comeau, daughter of Jean Comeau l'aîné and Françoise Hebert at Port-Royal 24 October 1710.[4] [5] Before she died in April 1722, Anne gave François five children, including three sons and two daughters, born at Port-Royal.

Children:

  1. Joseph RICHARD 1712-
  2. Francois RICHARD 1714-/1763
  3. Jean Baptiste RICHARD 1716-1726
  4. Anne RICHARD 1718-
  5. Marie Josephe RICHARD 1720-1802

Six months after his first wife died, François remarried to Marie Martin, daughter of René Martin and Marie Megnier, at Port-Royal 26 October 1722. The groom signed.[6] [7] She gave him three more children, including a son, born at Port-Royal. Their two daughters married into the Comeau and LeBlanc families. Marie remarried at Port-Royal in January 1735, so François had died by then.

Children:

  1. Madeleine RICHARD 1723-
  2. Rene RICHARD 1726-1764
  3. Dorothee RICHARD 1728-

Oldest son Joseph, by his first wife, born 24 September 1712, [8] married Anne, daughter of François-Marie Bastarache dit Basque, at Port-Royal in July 1734. [9]

François, fils, by his first wife, born 15 June 1714, [10] married Marie-Geneviève, daughter of Jean-Baptiste David, at Port-Royal 14 October 1737. [11]

Youngest son by his first wife, Jean Baptiste, born 5 June 1716, [12] died in childhood, 27 June 1726. [13]

Eldest daughter by his first wife, Anne, born 15 April 1718 [14] married into the Orillon dit Champagne family. [15]

Youngest daughter by his first wife, Marie Joseph, born 21 August 1720, [16] married into the Richard family, [17]

Youngest son René, by his second wife, born 30 August 1726, [18] married probably at Port-Royal in c1749, but the name of his spouse has been lost to history.

One wonders if any member of this branch of the family emigrated to Louisiana.
