"Lieut. Alton E. Richards, U.S. Army Transportation Corps (Diesel Marine Engineer) & Cpl. Marion A. Rees, Womens Auxiliary Air Force (W.A.A.F. Royal Air Force) met in Plymouth, February 1945. He left for France in April. They married in June while he was on seven days leave.
The war in Europe ended. He remained on active duty in Germany - She sailed for N.Y. in April 1946, thence to Andover, ME. Alton arrived in August for 30 days R&R. They sailed from Brooklyn Navy Yard in September 1946 for Germany, where they lived until January 1950. Sandra and Chrystal were born in Germany, Francine in Houston, Texas. They left there in the spring of 1953 for Seattle and lived in that area ever since.".
He was an avid horseman, outdoorsman, bowler, and chess player.
