Biography

Mary Richardson was born February 26, 1824 in Halifax, Windham County, Vermont. She was the daughter of Josephus and Euphemia (Henderson) Richardson. [1]

She married Julius C. Averill, in Belmont, Allegany County, NY, where they made their home. A biography for their son Isaac, who was born in 1853, states that his father was a native of Rutland County, Vermont, arrived in Allegany County, NY, in 1841, and married Mary Richardson in 1842. He claims he was one of 10 children.

Mary claimed she had 9 children with 4 still living shortly before her death. [2]

In 1900, Mary Averill was living with her son James K. Averill and daughter Effie M. Averill in Belmont.

Mrs. Mary Averill, mother of Mrs. F. M. Babcock of this place, died of Bright’s disease, at her home in Belmont, Thursday, Sept 25 [1902]. Mr. and Mrs. Babcock were in attendance at the funeral on Sunday. [5]
