Biography

Belinda (Malinda) was born in 1807. Belinda Ingle may have passed away in 1871, as indicated by state of Oregon "Early Oregonian Search", but no death record or grave has been found. A Belinda Eagleton, born 1896, shows in up on July 29, 1870, in La Grange, Indiana, where she may have been living or visiting family; Malinda Eccleston is in Lane, Oregon on August 20, 1870. Sources conflict on whether she was born in Indiana or North Carolina. It is unclear whether John M Eccleston died on the Oregon Trail. A Lemule Ingle died on the Oregon Trail on the same trip, but no Ecclestons were recorded as dying on journey.

According to Indiana state records, she was Melinda Lindle when she married Harry Eccleston.

The various features of progressive ranching as seen in the northwest are found on the place of Isaac Eccleston, who is the owner of two hundred and seventy-four acres on the east side of Goose lake valley, seven miles south of Lakeview. He was born in Cedar County, Missouri, September 4, 1843, and is a son of Henry Harrison and Belinda (Richardson) Eccleston. The father was born in Cayuga County, New York on September 6, 1811, and the mother's birth occurred in North Carolina in 1808. She had been previously married and had a son, John M., who, however, went by the name of Eccleston. His death occurred in 1852, while the family was crossing the plains to the west. Two children were born of the second marriage.

Her father may have been John Richardson of NC: [1]
