Biography

Alfred was born in 1825. He was the son of William Richardson and Elizabeth Jewhurst. He passed away in 1 March 1911 at his home "Mulconda:, Kimbriki, NSW, Australia. He was buried the following day at the Bo Bo Cemetery, Burrell Creek, NSW.

MR. ALFRED RICHARDSON. One of the stalwarts of the Faith was the late Mr. Alfred Richardson, of Mulconda, in the Taree Circuit. For well night half a century he and his devoted wife and family rendered noble service to the Church there, and made their influence felt for righteousness. A man of simple life, of kindly manners, of great hospitality, willing to do all in his power to promote whatever made for good. Though not of robust constitution, he lived to a ripe old age; but of late years suffered strokes of paralysis, the last of which caused his death. Very peacefully came the end, with his loved wife and children around him he lingered for several weeks without any pain and quite conscious to the last, and then early one morning very quietly and very gently he just fell asleep. For many years he was a member of the Church, and a Society Steward, and through his efforts a Church was built, and public worship first begun at Mulconda. An impressive memorial service was conducted in the Church, where he had so often worshipped. The late Mr. Richardson was born in Kent, England, on the 20th May, 1828, and came out with his parents to Australia in 1838, and resided on the Paterson River, for 12 months, then to the Allyn River, where he married Ann Martin, second, eldest daughter of the late Mr. William Martin. In the year 1863 he came with his wife and family to the Manning River, and settled at Mulconda, where he remained until his death. He had a large family of 13 children, one deceased, the rest — five boys, and seven girls — are living, and all married. (The Methodist, Sat 17 Jun 1911, Page 9)
