Andrew James (A. J.) Richardson, 91, of Southport, took his heavenly flight on Monday, December 17, 2018.
He was born on January 19, 1927, in Southport, Florida. He was known as "Daddy" to his children and "Pawpaw" to his grand/great/great-great grandchildren. He loved his family with all of his heart. He enjoyed worshiping the Lord at his home church, First Assembly of God of Southport. He had a strong work ethic as a pulp woodman, and later as a commercial shrimper, and especially enjoyed working in his yard. He took pleasure fishing and hunting with his wife, children, and grandchildren.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of over 71 years, Boncile Richardson; son, Lynn Richardson (Catherine); daughters, Darlene Pitts (Duell), Bonita Richardson, Myra Strickland (David), and Charlotte Denice Deal (Richard); grandchildren, Scott Richardson (Vicki), Brad Richardson, David Richardson (Gina), Chris O'Leary (Melissa), Hunter Richardson (Mandi), Hannah Noble (James), Ashley Smith (Brandon), Ben Pitts (Melanie), Olivia Pitts, Sara Ivey (Kyle), Meghan Upfold (Jonathon), Heather Strickland, Justin Deal (Jessica), Holly Farmer (Preston) and Brittany Carter (Jamie); 26 great grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; brother, Mack Richardson (Lisa); sister, Carolyn Duke; sister-in-law, Wilma Richardson; brother-in-law, Bruford Flowers (Sandra); Lucille Youngblood, and special friend, L. J. Kelly; along with numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Aden and Lena Richardson; daughter, Glenda Ceil Richardson; great granddaughters, Elizabeth and Maddie Pitts; sister, Minnie Riley; and brothers, Ellera, Fred, and Nick Richardson.
The family will receive friends 5:00 to 7:00 P.M., Thursday, December 20, 2018 CST at First Assembly of God Church of Southport. The service will be held 10:00 A.M. CST, Friday, December 21, 2018 at First Assembly of God Church of Southport. Interment will follow in Old Southport Cemetery. Officiating the service will be Rev. Roger Hagan, Rev. Nixon Miller, and Hunter Richardson.
