Benjamin was born on 7 October 1826 and baptised the next day in Normanby by Spital, Lincolnshire, England. He was the son of Charles and Charlotte Richardson.[1]
At the time of the 1851 census Benjamin worked as a farm labourer for the Hornby family in Owmby, Lincolnshire.[2]
In 1856 Benjamin married Elizabeth Carlton.[3] The family lived in Hive, Yorkshire, in 1861[4] and had moved to Breighton, Yorkshire, by 1871, where Benjamin farmed 65 acres of land.[5] In 1881 he was a beerhouse keeper and grocer in Gilberdyke, Yorkshire.[6]
Benjamin died in 1883 at the age of 55[7] and was buried in Blacktoft.[8]
