Martha Ann Richardson, the daughter of James Richardson D.D. (1791-1875) and Rebecca (Dennis) Richardson (1793-1858), was born in Upper Canada about 1819. In 1834, she began attending Cazenovia Seminary in Cazenovia, New York, where she met Prof. W.H. Allen, whom she married in the autumn of 1836. But Martha died in 1839, at home in Carlisle, NY, leaving behind her husband and their eighteen-month-old child.
