Biography

Frances ( Fanny) Richardson was born on 20 December 1773 in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India, her father, Captain William Richardson, was 35, and her mother, Anna, was 37. She married Captain Michael HOGAN on 15 December 1789 in her hometown. They had four children during their marriage..


1- eldest daughter was named Frances. She never married, and lived at Staten Island 2- Harriet was the second daughter, and she married a physician of note in this city. 3- third daughter was named Sophia. She married a person named Donnelly, 4- William

She died on 9 October 1859 in Staten Island, New York, USA, having lived a long life of 85 years

They called Frances a “dark-skinned Indian princess,” and fell in with most of Hogan’s braggadocio, which included the claim that on his marriage, he had received a dowry of “400,000 English sovereigns, or about two million dollars,” or according to other sources, “40,000 pounds in gold.”

The friends of the family are respectfully invited to attend the funeral without further notice, on Wednesday morning at a quarter before eleven o'clock, at Christ's Church, New Brighton. Carriages will be in waiting at the New Brighton landing on arrival of the ten o'clock boat from New York.
