Biography

I am currently retired and live in Grove Hill, Al. I graduated from Auburn University with BS and MS in Agronomy and Soils. I retired after a 40 year career with USDA. My first Richbourg ancestor came in 1700 and settled in Va. just west of present day Richmond at a site known as Manakintown. He was French Huguenot Pastor and fled persecution during the Protestant Reformation. He was the Junior Pastor at the settlement. His son married a descendant of Gov John West of VA so I trace my roots back to at least 1618. Some say that John West married Anne Percy a daughter of George Percy. George Percy was one of the men who landed at Jamestown in 1607.

My mtDNA (H1a1) is a perfect match with proven descendants of Joan Hurst Tilley who was a Mayflower passenger. We have not been able to trace that line as of July 2018.

Based on the above it is highly possible that I descend from both a Jamestown and Mayflower passenger.

Hello John, The Mayflower Project is requesting that you check-in to let us know you are still interested in being a badged member of the Mayflower Project.

Requirements to maintain your status as a badged Mayflower Project Member: (1) The mayflower G2G tag is required to be a member. (2) You must be active on Wikitree within the last year. If you are barely active you may also be removed. (3) You must respond to checkin requests. Note that if you manage one or more Mayflower profiles you will not be asked to checkin.

You may respond by replying to this comment or sending me a private message. Thank you for being a member of WikiTree and the Mayflower Project.

I don't recommend merge of John Ward 32233 with 13125, too many discrepancies

I noticed the Carter line got smaller recently. Thomas was removed as son of Daniel. I'm new to genealogy. Any more info on this?
posted by Amanda Carter
Yes DNA evidence has pretty well established that Thomas is not the son of Daniel. Read my notes in the bio on Thomas's profile.

Tom Pettus I have not uploaded a GEDmatch but I do have a copy of this book (Simpson, William C. Jr. (1998) “The Huguenot Trail The Life and Descendants of Reverend Claude Philippe de Richebourg and His Wife Anne Chastain”) and would be happy to help if you contact me with more specific requests.

Welcome to the Mayflower Project. Good hunting. Hope you find your line, it took me about 35 years, and then my father actually made the link, but I didn't have DNA to help.
