Biography

Louis was born about 1843. He is the son of Charles Richer and Marie Raymond.

Enlisted at Malone for a period of three years as a private on Jul 30, 1863, Company B 83 Regiment New York Line. By November 28, 1863 he was discharged due to disability from the convelescent camp in Virginia.

According to the 1865 St. Peter's Church Census he is listed as a soldier in the Civil War living in the village of Plattsburgh, New York. They are living next to his sister Roseline Richer and his brother-in-law Antoine Beaupré.

On the first of Jul 1862 he stood as witness to the marriage of his sister Philomene Richer and Joseph Bélanger.
