Biography
The Independent-Herald, Hinton, West Virginia Thursday, December 20, 1917, page 1 From yesterday's daily issue John M Richmond, of Beech Run, near this city, dropped dead this morning at 10:30 o'clock, supposedly of heart failure due to long illness of rheumatism. He was in the living room of his home, alone, and was heard to fall by his wife, who went to his rescue, but he expired immediately.
Mr Richmond was a good man, honorable and upright and his untimely demise is a grievous blow to his family and many friends. He was a member of the Baptist church.
Mr Richmond was 69 years of age and was born and reared on Freezeland mountain, bur had been living on Beech Run for 30 years.
He is survived by a wife who was Miss Clara Neely previous to marriage, and two sons and eight daughters, viz: Robert Richmond, of James street, this city, and Gorman, of the home place, and Mrs Carrie Ball, Mrs Mattie Lilly, Mrs Staley Reid and Mrs Clara Lilly, all of Hinton, Mrs Mae Brafford, of Ironton, O, Mrs C H Swepston, of Marie, Mrs S A Harvey, of Beech Run, and Mrs Ethel Ball, of Bellepoint.
Son of *Andrew Lewis Richmond (1813 - 1882) and Sarah Redden.
He married *Clara Frances Neely Richmond (1858 - 1928)
