Military Service: War of Northern Aggression (Civil War). Marion Berry Richmond joined the Confederate army at the age of seventeen and served throughout the war in Company A, 1st Mississippi Artillery. He was at the siege of Vicksburg. Marion Berry Richmond was in the newspaper business. He was the editor and publisher of the "Pascagoula Democrat Star" in Mississippi and the founder of the "Biloxi Herald". After leaving Mississippi he moved to Texas for a while before going to Washington, D.C. where he worked as a proof reader in the Government Printing Office for some twenty years. Upon his retirement he moved to California. He was a Mason for sixty-three years and a member of the Masonic Lodge of Long Beach and a Royal Arch Mason. He was also a member of the Palos Verdes Chapter of the Eastern Star in California.
