Biography

Abigail Richmond, [1] [2] daughter of John, was born in Taunton, then a part of Plymouth Colony, February 26, 1678,[3][2][1][4] [1678/9].[1] Her mother was Abigail (Rogers) Richmond.[2]

Abigail married in Taunton 29 July 1708 Nathan Walker,[5] son of James and Bathsheba (Brooks) Walker, b. 28 Jan. 1677/8; died Taunton 23 Dec. 1747 in his 70th yr.[2]

The will of Nathan Walker of Dighton, advanced in years, was dated 13 April 1739 and sworn to 5 April 1748. He named his wife Abigail, sons Nathan (executor) and William, dau. Abigail Austin wife of Jacob, daus. Phebe, Lydia and Deborah (no last names given). [2]

Abigail Walker, widow of Nathan, d. in Taunton 28 Feb 1763 in her 84th yr.[6][2] Abigail and Nathan's deaths are also recorded in Dighton. Taunton was the parent town from which Dighton was formed.

Children b. Dighton:[2][7]
  1. Nathan Walker b. 27 Oct. 1709
  2. Abigail Walker b. 3 Dec 1711
  3. Phebe Walker b. 29 Sept. 1713
  4. William Walker b. 17 Aug. 1715
  5. Lydia Walker b. 31 July 1717
  6. Deborah Walker b. 13 Aug 1719; d. prob. Taunton bet. 6 Nov. 1792 and 22 Dec. 1796. She m. int. Dighton 29 Jan. 1673 WILLIAM AUSTIN, prob. the one bur. Taunton 16 Jan. 1797; prob. son of Jonah. He had been m. previously, and had at least two ch. to whom he deeded land. Deborah's m. is proved through two deeds wherein heirs of Nehemiah Walker divided land: a deed 10 May 1762 calls here Deborah Walker of Dighton, ch. of Nathan; another 9 Aug. 1764 calls her Deborah Austin, wife of William of Taunton, and groups her with her sisters. Neither William nor Deborah left PR, and there are no LR to show that there were any ch. b. to this late m. In 1768 William and Deborah sold the land from Nehemiah Walker; they were still in Taunton 6 Nov. 1792 when William deeded land with Deborah releasing her dower. She was apparently d. by 22 Dec. 1796 when William Austin of Taunton sold his house lot and buildings. No known ch.[2]

Richmond-1047 and Richmond-203 appear to represent the same person because: Same person, but note discrepancy in birthplace.
