Biography

Richard Richeman alias Webbe (the younger) was a son of William Richeman alias Webbe of Wiltshire. His father noted in his will that he had two sons named Richard.[1][2][3]

He may have been the Richard Richman later recorded at Bynol, Broad Hinton, Wiltshire.

The earliest mention of a Richmond or Richman living at Bynol, in Broad Hinton, is as follows:[4]

"Richard Rycheman of Bynknoll 28 Aug. collector of 1 /15 of 1/10 for Wilts (except New Sarum)." L.T.R. Originalia Roll No. 258. 8 Henry VII. 1492. N. 37.

"Richard was one of 7 men appointed collectors for all Wilts (except New Sarum)."[4]

"We next find a Wm. and John Richman or Richmond both paying a subsidy at Bynol and Chaddington in 1523. They are related as shown by a subsequent lawsuit but we do not know just how."[4]

A William Richman was a taxpayer at Byncknall in 1545.[5]
