EUDUNDA.
June 4.—Mrs. Johanne Christiane Ebert, who died on Thursday, had reached the age of 91 years and 12 days. She was the mother of our well-known townsman, Mr. A. Pfeiffer, of Messrs. Pfeiffer & Sons, chaff merchants, &c. The deceased was bom in Priebus, Germany, on May 16, 1812, and married Mr. Gottfried Pfeiffer in 1834, but the union was of short duration, as in the year 1840 she was left a widow.
In 1842 she married Mr. Johann Freidrich Wilhelm Ebert, with whom she came to South Australia, arriving here in 1848.
Their first home in the colony was at Light's Pass, whence they removed to Walton, Daveyston, and Stockwell. At the last named place she resided till three years ago, when her husband died. Since then she had lived at Eudunda with her son, Mr. Pfeiffer.
She has left three sons, two daughters, 27 grandchildren, and 25 great-grand-children. :Pastor T. Nickel officiated at the grave.

Research Notes

The reconstructed passenger list for the G.H. Wappäus records Johanne's last name at birth as Drendel (Johanne Christiane (Drendel) Ebert). [4]
No original passenger list survives, the information (which has been reconstructed) is incorrect. Johanne Christiane Drendell is 20 years younger, and has a WikiTree profile:

Johanne Christiane Drendel (age 27, father Carl Wilhelm Drendel) married Johann Gottfried Ebert (age 30, father Johann Christoph Ebert) 21 Feb 1860 at the residence of Mr Drendel in South Rhine, South Australia. [5]

According to the Will of Johanne Christiane Ebert her maiden name was Richter:

The last will and testament of Johanne Christiane Ebert formerly Pfeiffer nee Richter of Eudunda, South Australia.
Bequests to her son August Pfeiffer, son Friedrich Wilhelm Ebert, son Johann Carl Ebert, daughter Ernstine Auguste Stude, daughter Ernstine Pauline Liesfield. [6]

Her husband's Will also states that her last name at birth was Richter. [7]

LNAB according to her Will (link attached in Research Notes) was Richter. The original entry appears to have been correct. Johanna Christiane Drendel was another person and born 20 years after this Johanna (her age at marriage in 1860 was 27).

Richter-336 and Drendel-4 appear to represent the same person because: same spouse; narrative for Richter-336 uses "Drendel" as the correct last name
