Biography

Thomas Rickaby was born in Craike, Yorkshire, England.

Birth

Thomas Rickaby was born^[1] in 1828 and baptised on 25 December 1828 in Crayke, Durham (according to the Parish Register). He was the son of Thomas and Hannah (Jarvis) Rickaby. Thomas was a cattle dealer in Yorkshire.

In the England 1841 Census^[2] Thomas (age 13) is living with John and Ann Lawson and their children at Grape Lane, Whitby. Thomas was carrying out work in the Linen Industry.

In the England and Wales Census, 1851^[3] Thomas Rickaby (age 22 and working as a Cattle Dealer) is living in Easingwold, Yorkshire. Others in the household are: Elizabeth Rickaby (age 25 and a cousin - born in Craike, Yorshire), Thomas Bretton (age 79 - born in Craike, Yorkshire his Grand Father) and Mary Bretton (age 81 - born in Husthwaite, Yorkshire, his Grand Mother.
