Giles' grandfather, who died in 1669, and his father, who died in 1703, were also named Giles Rickard. Records created during his father's lifetime call this man Giles, Jr., but he was the third member of the family in his direct line in Plymouth, Massachusetts, to bear the name Giles.
Giles Rickard III married Hannah Snow in Plymouth on 7 November 1683.[2][3] No children were born to the marriage.[3]Desire Doton was Giles' adopted daughter who inherited part of his estate.[4]
Giles Rickard made his will on 13 December 1709. His inventory was taken on 7 February 1709/10.[4][5] He died the following month, on 29 January 1710. [6] He was buried in at Burial Hill in Plymouth.[7] His wife Hannah (Snow) Rickard survived him; his will named "my dear wife, Hannah Rickard, sole executrix.[4]
In 1715, his widow, now Hannah Hows, wife of Joseph Hows, inventoried what was remaining of his moveable estate and his real estate.[8]

↑ No official record of his birth has been found but that's not uncommon for early Pilgrim births in Plymouth. His burial record has been the subject of some controversy as there are 3 "Giles Rickard" graves on Burial Hill, Plymouth, Plymouth, Massachusetts. The Find A Grave memorial originally referred to here apparently refers to a different Giles Rickard than this one who married Hannah Snow. Current research states that the correct F.A.G. Memorial is 41616151. That is the one now used as a reference here.

The data in the Gedcoms on this page has a number of inconsistencies with available records. Sources cited are other family trees, compilations of data from other family trees, and Ancestry.com "index-only" records. Is it deemed necessary to keep this content?
One of these Gedcoms, as with some other uploaded records for other family members, includes dates that are inconsistent with Plymouth records, associated with locations in Eastham, Barnstable County, Massachusetts. Was there another Rickard family in Eastham that has become conflated with the one in Plymouth?
