Issachar was a son of Joseph and "Liddy" Rickard, born at Middlebury, Connecticut, on 29 June 1738. His birth is recorded in the vital records of Killingly, Connecticut, where the family resided for a number of years and where several younger siblings were born.[1]
Issachar was baptized in Plympton, Massachusetts, on 14 September 1740, recorded as the child of Joseph Rickard. Lydia Rickard, also recorded as the child of Joseph and presumably his sister, was baptized that same day.[2][3]
Issachar Rickard and Mary Carriel, both of Sutton, were married at Sutton, Massachusetts, on 31 December 1761. The marriage was officiated by Benjamin Marsh, Elder of the Baptist Church in Sutton.[4]
