Biography

Christopher was born about 1749 and died in 1838.

He was almost certainly the son of Henry Ricketts - https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Ricketts-2122 - for several reasons:

  • Although no record of his birth has been found, he married Mary Speck in Broad Blunsdon, only 5 miles away from where Henry lived and all of his other children were born
  • Henry had six other children, including two born in 1746 and 1751; Christopher would fit into the gap
  • There is a 27cM autosomal DNA match between a confirmed descendant of Christopher and a confirmed descendant of Henry through his son Stephen - https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Ricketts-2121

Candidates for a Y-chromosome test to test the theory are being sought.

  • Paternal relationship is confirmed through Y-chromosome DNA testing. Henry Campbell-Ricketts, FTDNA kit #233298, is a match at a Genetic Distance of 0 on 37 markers to David Paul Ricketts thereby confirming their direct paternal lines back to their MRCA Christopher Ricketts.
