Biography

Rosetta Cobb Rickey was born 6 October 1829 in Cincinnati, Ohio, the daughter of Randall Rickey and Susanna McAuley.[1]

At the age of 24 she married David Hostetter 13 July 1854 in Cincinatti, Ohio.[2] They were the parents of five children:[3]

Harry Hutchinson Hostetter, born 16 May 1855 and died 25 May 1878;

Amy Susette Hostetter, born 22 Januayr 1858; married 6 November 1879 Herbert DuPuy;

David Herbert Hostetter, born in 1859; married, in 1887, Miriam Gerdes;

Wilfred Parker Hostetter, born August 16, 1866 and died 16 December 1883; and

Theodore Rickey Hostetter, born 19 October 1869 and died 3 August 1901; married Allene Tew.

Rosetta had her share of misfortune. Her eldest son, Harry, died in 1878 while on a trip to Florence, Italy. Rosetta was only 48 at the time of his death. Her son Wilfred died in 1883 when Rosetta was 54. Her husband died a few years later in 1888. And then her son Theodore died in 1902 when Rosetta was 72.

Rosetta died 3 July 1904 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania at the age of 74. Her remains were buried at the Allegheny Cemetery in Pittsburgh.[4][5]
