Benjamin Riddle was born about 1824 in Pittsylvania, Virginia. FamilySearch profile shows parents William Riddle(1795-1864) and Martha Giles(1798-1853).
Benjamin married Eliza Colley on March 20, 1848, and the couple is shown in the 1850 census of Pittsylvania with sons James 1849 and Lewis 1850.
Eliza passed away in 1851 per FamilySearch profile, and Benjamin would remarry to Mary Ann Jones on December 21, 1855. The 1860 census would show Benjamin, Mary Ann, Lewis, and Gillard Riddle 1858.
Benjamin was in the 38th Virginia Infantry, Company H, in the Civil War, and per jimsgenealogy.net , was wounded in May of 1864 in the Battle of Drewry's Bluff, and died of wounds in the Howard Grove Hospital in Richmond on July 25, 1864.
Second wife Mary Ann passed away in Pittsylvania, Virginia in 1877.
