Biography
Elizabeth was born in Tennessee about 1868, the daughter of David and Martha Ridge.
In 1870 the Ridge family lived on their farm in Marion County, Tennessee. The household included David Ridge, 37, born in Alabama, a farmer with $2000 in real estate and $761 in personal estate; his wife, Martha, 32, b. Tennessee, who could read but could not write; and their five children, all b. TN, William, 10; Mary, 9; Hiram, 6; Joseph, 5; and Elizabeth, 2. The two oldest children, William and Mary, were in school. [1]
