Biography

William is a son of David and Elizabeth (Wagoner) Ridgway. He was born near the Indian Nation, in the State of Georgia, June 1, 1800. William arrived in Ohio with his parents at the very early date of 1803 becoming one of the first settlers of Gallia County.

He married Jane Dougherty, a daughter of John and Hadasie (Alder) Dougherty of Monroe county, West Virginia, on 7 Nov 1825. Among their children are:
