Joseph was the youngest son of Richard Ridgeway by his second wife, Abigail Stockton. He was a large land owner and farmer in Springfield Township, N. J.
Joseph married twice, first to Sarah Butcher, November 11, 1727.
He was married second to Hannah Allen, daughter of Henry Allen of Mansfield, Burlington County, New Jersey on February (12 Mo.) 15, 1737/8 at the Mansfield Meeting House, Burlington County, New Jersey.[1]
