Biography

Joseph was born in the Red River Colony on 5 February 1858. He was the son of Louis Riel and Julie Lagimodiere.

Joseph Riel was the Reeve of the Rural Municipality of St. Boniface (later renamed the RM of St. Vital to avoid confusion with the town of St. Boniface) in 1891 and from 1893 to 1894.
