Joseph was born in 1891. He was the son of William Rife and Matilda Conner. He passed away in 1977.
Hutchinson News (Hutchinson, Kansas) 22 December 1977 p. 7, col. 2: Joseph Basil Rife. Lyons - Joseph Basil Rife, 86, died Wednesday at Sandstone Heights Nursing Home, Little River. Born Sept. 24, 1891 in Rice County he married Jessie Bain Aug. 13, 1913 at Geneseo. He was a retired farmer and lifetime area resident. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Little River; Rice County Farm Bureau. Survivors include widow; daughters: Mrs. Jo Ann Feldman, 1321 Orchard, Hutchinson; Mrs. Josephine Yager, Minneapolis; Mrs. Joyce Clark, Kingman; 11 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren. Funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday at the church, Rev. Dan Waters. Burial will be in Lyons Cemetery. Friends may call 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Thursday at Williamson Funeral Home, Little River. Family suggests memorials to the church.
