Catharine E Rigby was born in 1793 in Virginia.[1]
She was married 8 Mar 1814 in Fairfield County, Ohio, to Hugh Lightle/Lytle/Little. They were the parents of the following children:
"In the early part of the 19th century, Hugh Little and his wife, Catharine (Rigby) Little, came to Green township, then in the wilds of Ross County . . . Hugh Little burned the brick which was used in building the dwelling house . . . He set out what was perhaps the first orchard in the township . . . " The place he settled and improved was later known as the Gregg place, which he sold in 1818 and bought 80 acres about one mile east of it, where he spent the remainder of his life.
He died 17 Sep 1825, survived by his wife and four children.[3] His wife and apparently his father were Administrators of his estate.[4] She signed the bond as Catharine Lyttle; Thomas Lytle signed as "Thomas Litel" with Samuel Lytle and Andrew Lytle each making their mark for the bond of $1,200, dated 13 Oct 1825.[5]
Catharine appeared on the 1840 census of Ross County, Ohio, with one boy and one girl under 10 years old; one boy and one girl age 10-14 years of age; and one boy and one girl 15-19 years of age. She was listed aged 30-39.[6]
She and Hugh may have had two boys who died single before 1852, the year Hugh is listed with one son and three daughters surviving.[4]
She died 7 Jun 1848 in Ross County, and is buried beside her husband in Bethel Cemetery, Salem, Ross County, Ohio.[1]
