FARROW-RIGBY.
Friends of the bride decorated the Horsham Methodist Church in shades of pink and blue on January 30 for the marriage of Elsie M., youngest daughter of Mrs. J Rigby, McPherson street, Horsham, and the late Mr. Rigby, to Sgt. Walter Farrow, R.N., Flinders Naval Base, youngest son of the late Mr. and Mrs. W. Farrow, Kirby Cross, Essex England. The ceremony was performed the Rev. E. E. Shackell. Given away by her brother-in-law, Mr. T. W. Jones, the bride wore a trained gown of off-white embossed satin, and the embroidered tulle veil (lent by Mrs. G. Crellis, Thornbury) was held to the head with a top-knot of white lilies matching those in the sheath which was carried. Petal pink sheer was chosen by the bridesmaid, Miss Avis Jones, whose shoulder length tulle was caught to the head with a top-knot of pink and blue flowers. She carried a matching bouquet. Lieut. W. Howard, R.A.N., acted as best man. During the signing of the register, Miss Jean Watts rendered the solo, "O Promise Me." As the couple left the church a guard of honor was formed by members of the A.W.L., of which the bride was a sergeant. Following the ceremony, the reception was held at Perring's Cafe.[5]

1949. In July 1849, Elsie's husband Walter put his land in Horsham up for sale. Later in the year, when her mother died, Elsie was living at Crib Point, Victoria. At some stage, Walter had transferred to the Royal Australian Fleet Reserve (R.A.F.R.). He listed himself as Sergeant of the R.A.N. in the 1949 land sale advertisement. [6] [7]
