From the History of Jay County, Indiana : including its World War record and incorporating the Montgomery history / edited by Milton T.Jay. Pub 1922 – Vol 1 & Vol 2 available on hathitrust.org
From Vol. 1, PAGES 164-166 THE "FATHERS OF JAY COUNTY. From a transcript of the original tract book on file in the office of the county auditor it is noted that the following persons had entered land here prior to and including the year 1836, the year in which Jay county was organized: ......... Eli Irey, Isaac Irey, Jonah Irey, Mahlon Irey, ....................Aaron B. Rigby..... and many other names.
Several members of the Rigy family moved from Columbiana County Ohio to Jay County Indiana.
When Daniel Rigby, his father, land was 'partitioned' - distributed to the heirs- in 1850, there were no descendants of Aaron listed in this distribution. Presumably, this means that Aaron did not have any surviving descendants as of 1850.
